Sigma Says Welcome!
My name is Mary Clare and I am the current President of the Sigma chapter of Delta Zeta at Louisiana State University. Choosing to become a member of Delta Zeta my freshman year has been without a doubt the best decision I ever made. No women in my family had ever been Greek, so coming into Recruitment I had no idea what to expect. Delta Zeta immediately stood out to me. Every woman I spoke to was so genuine and caring. Throughout the week, something always pulled me back to our beautiful house. On Bid Day, I was blessed to receive a bid and the blessings have continued ever since. The original sense of comfort I felt did not go away, but grew.
Through Delta Zeta I have served our wonderful local and national philanthropies, grown as a leader, and most of all been a part of a community of women who have made me who I am today. These women have seen me at my highest and my lowest, and have been there with a loving smile regardless of the situation. I have been continually challenged to be more: academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
What I enjoy most about Delta Zeta are the little things - walking into our dining room on a weekday to see everyone's smiling faces at lunch, laughing and enjoying whatever good eats are coming from the kitchen that day; seeing another Delta Zeta on my way to class and getting an enthusiastic wave or smile; touching lives through service; quiet Sundays in the house when everyone is working to prepare for the week. No matter what we do, we do it together and that is what makes this chapter so special. A plaque outside our home reads "Find within the walls of this home a sisterhood inspired by the pursuit of everlasting friendship," and that is certainly what I have found.
